Cesar and The Five
Lancaster, Pennsylvania - Funk/Latin/Jazz/Soul
Biography
Cesar and The Five was formed in 2025 when college roommates Cesar Rangel Muñoz and Patrick Boyer came together to prepare for Muñoz’s senior recital at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. What began as a recital collaboration quickly evolved into a combo built around groove, improvisation, and cross-cultural influence.
Joined by Jude Bennett-Johnson (bass), Enzo Dreon (guitar & trumpet), Edrien Dingzon (auxiliary percussion), and Quinn Madden (piano), the group began exploring the intersections of funk, Latin rhythms, and modern jazz harmony. The result? Tight rhythms, high energy, and a sophisticated yet spontaneous sound.
Since their formation, Cesar and The Five have performed throughout the Central PA area, building a reputation for high-energy, musically sophisticated performances. Some notable performances include the headlining slot for the Annual Muhlenberg Township Latin Festival, where the group performed for over 1,200 attendees, as well as a sold-out show at West Art in Lancaster. The group has also been featured in the 3rd Friday Music Series presented by Music For Everyone and has appeared at local venues including Millersville University, Annie Bailey's and Our Town Brewery.
At its core, Cesar and The Five is driven by a mission to connect people of all cultures and backgrounds through music. Performing in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, the ensemble creates an inclusive musical experience that celebrates rhythm, storytelling, and shared human connection
